Future Of MARC Train Service in Eastern Panhandle Still In Doubt

West Virginia Morning
West Virginia Public Broadcasting

On this West Virginia Morning, the future of the MARC commuter train service in the Eastern Panhandle is still uncertain. Local municipalities have come together to provide funding – but it’s unclear if it will be enough to keep the service in West Virginia. Liz McCormick explains.

Also on today’s show, in the latest episode of WVPB’s podcast Us & Them, called “The Bond Buster Says ‘No’ to Public Schools,” we learn about one man who has worked with citizen’s groups in dozens of places through the nation to fight against more money for public schools.

In this episode excerpt, Trey speaks with Alex Baumhardt, of American Public Media’s program Educate, about her time getting to know the “Bond Buster” Paul Dorr.  She produced a report about Dorr’s tough, bare-knuckle campaign to thwart a school bond initiative in the small town of Worthington, Minnesota.
