What sort of creatures called Cranesville Swamp in WV home during the Ice Age?

Exciting news! We at West Virginia Public Broadcasting have received some excellent questions during the inaugural kick-off of our Wild, Wondering West Virginia project. We want to know what questions you have about the Mountain State, and here are just a few of the great questions we've already received:

  • I think a story on the all the men who died building the Hawks Nest Tunnel would be interesting. (submitted by Buddy Christie)
  • Where did the terms "hillbilly" and "redneck" come from and how did they come to have such a strong association with West Virginia? (submitted by Neal Wilson)
  • How can I learn to look for morels, ramps or ginseng? (annonymous submission)

But a couple of reporters in the newsroom are really intrigued by a question about a by-gone time -- the Ice Age (or the most recent Ice Age, anyway):
"What was WV like during the Ice Age? Did it have anything to do with the making of the canyons and valleys?"

Nancy Taylor submitted this question. We're working now to get her some answers.

Look for our first Voting Round in 2019, when the audience gets to choose our next story. Ask your question below!
