Skillful Jobs: Getting to Work with American Graduate

Getting to Work: American Graduate

Middle-skills jobs, those requiring more than high school but less than a four year degree, make up one-third of all jobs in the United States, have an average annual salary of more than $45,000, and are projected to remain in demand in the future.

West Virginia Public Broadcasting has been awarded a grant from American Graduate and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting to investigate opportunities for careers outside of a four-year degree.

WVPB is creating digital resources to showcase some of those opportunities, working with partners such as WorkForce West Virginia, Community and Technical College System of West Virginia, West Virginia Department of Education Career and Technical Education,  The Education Alliance, and Affiliated Construction Trades Foundation.

Our first two West Virginia Workz Minute videos profile a Medical Lab Technician/Technologist and a Pipefitter. Stay tuned for more these resources to be used by educators and the public to understand opportunities and connect people to the resources needed to pursue them. Follow #WVWORKZ on Facebook and Twitter to or visit the program page for more information.
